What do you do at Mai-Wel?
I am a School Transition Lead Support & Step Up Support. I deliver supports that are in line with participants goals to build their capacity to become employed. I connect with families, schools and community partners to assist with school transition and post school supports to create opportunities that enhance supports.
What do you like most about your role?
I really like working with young people who are passionate about achieving their goals of employment. My role has a lot of variety on a day to day basis and I get to meet a lot of new people and assist them develop their personal and employability skills, this is so rewarding as I observe them grow in confidence.
Who inspires you?
People that inspire me are authentic, respectful, and positive; I also admire people who demonstrate courage. I am always inspired by creative people as this is not one of my strong skills.
Where is your favourite place in the world?
After the Hunter Valley NSW, one of my favourite places in the world is Italy. I have been fortunate to visit Italy three times and one of the things I really like about the Italian culture is the sharing of simple food with family and friends in the villages that become alive as people gather in the early evening into the night.
What do you like most about working at Mai-Wel?
I have been employed by Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions for the past 7 years. Working for Mai-Wel I feel proud to be part of a community that champions inclusiveness for people with disability, I so enjoy working with the participants and their families. I enjoy being part of a successful team and I really love learning and I am constantly learning whilst working at Mai-Wel!
