Chloe has been involved in Mai-Wel LabourForce Solution’s (MWLFS) Transition to Work (TtW) program throughout 2020, during which time she has continued to gain numerous certificates and qualifications to assist her work in the beauty industry!

Safety in the beauty industry is of particular importance due to the impact of COVID-19 and Chloe recognised it was important to know how to minimise risk of infection.

Despite the pandemic and the temporary shutdown of the industry, Chloe utilised her time away from the studio to complete several safety-based programs aimed to prepare her for work in ‘the new normal’. These included Infection Understanding & Control, COVID-19 Certification for the Professional Beauty Industry and Proper Sanitation and Disinfection. Furthermore, during 2020, Chloe completed her Certificate III in Nail Technology, continued to make progress in her Beauty Therapy apprenticeship and enrolled in a Cert IV in Leadership & Management.

As lockdowns and restrictions were lifted, Chloe was able to come back to work in her studio in Maitland, prepped with the knowledge of how to do so safely during COVID-19.

When asked if her Case Manager with TtW had helped assist her to achieve her goals, Chloe said, “Yes! They helped me get my apprenticeship, assisted me to enrol in my Leadership and Management course, liaised with both of the training organisations I’m enrolled with to get me what I need and helped me to stay focused on making regular progress in my courses.”

Now, Chloe is continuing to work towards her employment goals and has big plans for 2021.

“After completing my apprenticeship, the next challenge will be to successfully transition into a management role in my studio. I’m also considering getting my RSA & RCG so I can work a second job in hospitality behind the bar.”

Good work, Chloe!
