Support for young people across the Hunter Region to find work or further education

Workforce Australia offers a range of services that provide Australians with support and training to kickstart or elevate their employment opportunities. Mai-Wel is a Workforce Australia Employment Services Provider.

Workforce Australia – Transition to Work is for young people who are no longer at school and looking for their next step to get work or further
education to reach their goals.

If you are aged between 15 and 24 years, we can help you to find training to get your ideal job and support your job search when you’re ready.

How we will help you to find and keep a job

With Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions, you’ll be assigned a dedicated Youth Support Mentor (YSM) to help you to identify and break down any barriers to finding your dream job. With your YSM you’ll be supported to improve your skills for employment, develop work readiness and find the right job or further education to achieve your goals.

You can also expect to:

  • Learn new skills to assist you to get a job
  • Access driving lessons, training courses, work-related tickets and licences
  • Support in creating resumes, cover letters and online applications
  • Assistance with interview preparation and work clothing
  • Hands-on experience through work experience, Internships, work place visits, interviews and activities
  • Opportunities for apprenticeships and traineeships and further education
  • Links to local medical supports, support services and programs
  • Meet new friends and build your support network
  • Get excited about your life and goals
  • Build your motivation & confidence
  • Find a job that suits you!

Are you eligible?

Your eligibility for TtW will depend on your personal circumstances, including whether you are:

  • Aged 15 – 24 years old.
  • Looking for work or wanting to explore training options.
  • Identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Living in the Hunter Region, including Maitland, Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, Branxton, Greta and Singleton areas.
  • There are some other eligibility requirements as set out on www.workforceaustralia.gov.au.
