Mai-Wel Group to Launch New Pre-Employment Service for Parents and Carers: Parent Pathways

The Mai-Wel Group is excited to announce the launch of Parent Pathways, a new pre-employment service designed for parents and carers, starting on the 1st of November 2024. This innovative, voluntary service aims to provide flexible, tailored support to assist participants in achieving personal, study, or employment goals.

With over 60 years of community service, Mai-Wel is well-known for its dedication to supporting vulnerable groups. Through Parent Pathways, Mai-Wel will expand its reach to provide tailored services to parents and carers, helping them access training, education, or employment that fits their individual needs.

Participants will work closely with experienced mentors to receive the support and resources needed to succeed. The service is part of Mai-Wel’s broader commitment to empowering people to change their lives, and it will co-locate across multiple locations, including Cessnock, Maitland, Singleton (full time); Kurri Kurri and Muswellbrook (part time), with outreach sites at Denman, Dungog, Greta, Scone, Merriwa and Cooranbong.

John Cleary, CEO of Mai-Wel, reflects on the expansion:
“Mai-Wel has always been full of possible, and we are excited to extend our support to parents and carers, helping them unlock new opportunities for growth.”

Kyllie Tegg, General Manager of Employment Services, shares her excitement about the initiative:
“We are thrilled to provide this service and work collaboratively with parents to co-design supports that enhance accessibility and cater to their unique needs.”

Parent Pathways will offer a range of support options, and with Mai-Wel’s strong network of community and business partnerships, we are excited about the new opportunities this service will create.
