In our supported workplace learning you gain experience to not only learn new skills but also to learn if the job or industry is what you expected it to be and if it’s an area you would like to pursue for your career.

We have a range of opportunities available with local businesses for you to learn at your own pace and complete workplace tasks while being supported by a Mai-Wel Support Worker.

Lorn Rose Farm

  • Learn skills and gain confidence on the flower farm
  • 15 hours per week
  • Tasks may include mulching, planting, harvesting flowers, cleaning buckets and works spaces, maintaining retail space and more!
  • What you’ll get out of this opportunity: horticulture experience, knowledge and skills in flowers and harvesting, experience working with a team, work outdoors

RSCPA NSW Rutherford Shelter

  • Learn skills and gain confidence to work in a diverse workplace
  • Opportunities:
    • Animal Attendant Assistant – 12 hours per week
      Tasks may include supporting animal attendance (with animal walking, cleaning, feeding, observing behaviours), cleaning tasks, water testing and administrative tasks.
    • Grounds Keeper – 4 hours per week
      Tasks may include grounds maintenance (including mowing, edging, pruning), green waste removal, weeding, mulching and general maintenance.
  • What you’ll get out of this opportunity: training and support to upskill in animal handling or grounds maintenance.
