Celebrating Chriz’s Achievements at Huntlee Academy
Chriz, a dedicated worker at Huntlee Academy, has reached remarkable milestones in his career
over the past few months, showcasing his commitment and hard work. Employed at Huntlee District Park, Chriz has been a part of the team for over a year and a half, a significant achievement worthy of celebration.
Chriz began his journey with a work program placement, working three mornings a week to ensure a good fit between him and Huntlee Academy. After proving his dedication, Huntlee Academy offered him a paid position, which he gladly accepted. Initially, Chriz worked three-hour shifts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Over time, he extended his hours, demonstrating his commitment and capability.
At the six-month mark, Chriz added an extra four hours to his Friday shifts, working supported in the yard. By the nine-month mark, he extended his Wednesday hours similarly. At the twelve-month milestone, Chriz doubled his benchmark hours, now working full nine-hour shifts, two of which are unsupported. This progress is a testament to his hard work and perseverance.
Mai-Wel Labour Force Solutions played a crucial role in Chriz’s journey. Recognising his need for paid employment, Mai-Wel’s Business Development Representative (BDR) built a strong relationship with Huntlee Academy, securing a work placement for Chriz. The BDR, along with the Mai-Wel Academy management team, organized the necessary supports for Chriz, including a Post-Placement Support Specialist (PPS).
Chriz’s achievements are not just about meeting his work hours but also about improving his endurance, stamina, strength, and balance. These improvements have enabled him to take on more tasks with ease. Despite challenging weather conditions, Chriz has remained steadfast in his duties, forming friendships and gaining confidence along the way.
Chriz’s success is a collaborative effort, involving his dedication, the support from Mai-Wel, and the encouragement from his workplace. His accomplishments include achieving his initial and secondary goals, such as extending his work hours and taking on more responsibilities. His improved fitness and balance are also evident.
Looking ahead, Chriz hopes to add a fourth full day to his work schedule and eventually work the entire week unsupported. His determination and the support from his team make this goal achievable.
